Are you a chipaholic? Sometimes there’s no getting around the craving for that CRUNCH that only comes from chips and other baked or fried snack foods. But the fact is, chips are a processed food and processed foods contribute to toxicity in the body and should be avoided. Recently we posted about coconut oil – A Fat That Helps With Weight Loss.The idea is that you SUBSTITUTE coconut oil into your diet in exchange for other fats you ordinarily use like vegetable and olive oil.
Here is an easy recipe that not only satisfies that urge to CRUNCH, but also gets healthful coconut oil into your diet. Since corn is one of the most frequently genetically-modified crops in the United States, you want to avoid non-organic corn in any food. Organic popcorn kernels are not that much more expensive than non-organic kernels. GMO foods are believed to contribute to toxicity in the body. 1/2 cup organic popcorn kernels
3 Tbsp melted raw, organic , virgin coconut oil
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Pop corn kernels in an air popper. Drizzle melted coconut oil over popped corn. Follow with sprinkle of cayenne pepper. If you don’t have an air popper, melt some of the coconut oil in a large stock pot. Add a single layer of corn kernels. Cook until you no longer hear any popping, taking care not to burn the corn.
